Galxe has announced the upcoming launch of a Layer 1 blockchain called “Gravity,” which is specifically designed for a seamless and scalable Web3 solution for its 20 million users. The core products of Galxe will be integrated onto the Gravity chain to provide a unified and simplified experience.
According to Galxe, over the past three years, there has been exponential growth in its user base and transaction volume, highlighting the urgent need for more efficient, scalable, and secure cross-chain interaction solutions. Existing solutions have shown limitations in supporting the required complexity and scale, while Gravity has the capability to address these challenges and provide integrated and streamlined experiences for developers and users.
So, what exactly is Gravity? It is a settlement layer built specifically for mass adoption and complete chain abstraction. It abstracts the technological complexities of chain interaction and integrates advanced technologies such as zero-knowledge proofs and state-of-the-art consensus mechanisms to ensure high performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
At its release, Gravity will seamlessly integrate with Galxe’s existing product suite, including Quest, Compass, Passport, Score, Alva, and the Galxe identity protocol. Gravity aims to support 100 million transactions per month, three times more than Ethereum. This integration allows developers to quickly access a massive user base. Gravity also simplifies multi-chain asset management, cross-chain transaction settlement, and user-friendly trading processes, eliminating the need to deal with complex underlying technologies.
Harry Zhang, Co-founder of Galxe, says, “Gravity represents a significant advancement in our decentralized Web3 ecosystem. Over the past three years, Galxe has always prioritized user experience, as evidenced by the transaction volume we have supported across over 34 chains. The launch of Gravity is a response to the urgent need for simplified cross-chain interaction and user-friendly experiences. Its ability to abstract complexity will bring disruptive changes for developers and users.”
Gravity offers several key features:
1. Cross-chain transactions: Gravity allows developers to process and settle transactions across multiple blockchains, enabling more efficient and secure interactions.
2. Efficient verification: It supports economically efficient zero-knowledge proof verification to ensure transaction economy and security.
3. Enhanced user experience: By introducing cryptographic primitives, such as the secp256r1 curve, through pre-compiled contracts, Gravity enhances user experience by enabling use cases like passkey authentication for abstracted wallet accounts.
4. High-performance execution: Gravity integrates the fastest execution layer, Reth, and state-of-the-art consensus algorithm Jolteon (AptosBFT). These technologies together provide high throughput and near-instant finality.
5. Secure and robust PoS mechanism: Gravity’s proof-of-stake relies on the native staking of G tokens and re-staking protocols, including Babylon and EigenLayer.
6. EVM compatibility: Gravity is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing developers to seamlessly deploy and interact with smart contracts.
So, when will Gravity be launched? Galxe plans to roll out Gravity in two key phases. The Gravity Alpha Mainnet will go live in June 2024, supported by the Arbitrum Nitro technology stack, using a public ledger in a transparent production environment for testing cross-chain settlements instead of a centralized backend. In the second quarter of 2025, Galxe will launch the Gravity Mainnet, a PoS Layer 1 blockchain driven by re-staking, with Reth as its EVM execution engine.
