After a month and a half of witch review, LayerZero finally opened at 1 pm Beijing time today

However, most addresses only have a few to dozens of ZRO, with the smallest being less than 0.1. According to pre-market trading data from Whales Market and Aevo, the price of ZRO is about 4U, which means that most addresses only receive tens of dollars worth of airdropped tokens. For users with a low chance of winning, it may not even be enough to cover the transaction costs.
According to Lookonchain monitoring, a top airdrop hunter also stumbled on LayerZero, with their address only receiving 354.92 ZRO (about $1420) in this airdrop, while they had received significant profits in previous airdrops: 104,806 ZK ($29,000), 10,250 ARB ($14,000), and 17,007 OP ($24,000).
All of this proves that LayerZero can be considered the largest “anti-lurking” project of the year.
Airdrop calculation rules
LayerZero CEO Bryan Pellegrino stated that there are only 1.28 million eligible addresses, and the final list of witch addresses will be announced tomorrow.
For the final airdrop calculation rules, Bryan provided some explanations, focusing on the following points, in combination with the previous “Ten Questions LayerZero Co-Founders: How to Handle Volume Trading, How to Calculate Token Incentives?”:
– Airdrop quantities are distributed linearly according to LayerZero protocol fees, excluding fees charged by other protocols such as Stargate.
– The minimum airdrop quantity for LayerZero Core users is 25 tokens, with a maximum of 5000 tokens.
– RFP minimum is 5 tokens, maximum is 10000 tokens.
– All early traders receive a triple multiplier, with later users receiving an additional 10 ZRO.
– NFT trades worth zero are discounted by 80%.
In addition to these basic rules, LayerZero has added many other calculation factors, including various NFTs and protocols, but LayerZero has not disclosed specific details, leading to many questioning voices in the community.
Reproduction of insider trading?
Shortly after the query link was released, a picture of a query result began circulating in the community, showing a user receiving 10,000 ZRO in airdrops based on the Kanpai Pandas NFT, but the specific address was not disclosed in the community spread.
An investigation by Odaily found that Kanpai Pandas is an NFT series that uses LayerZero’s ONFT cross-chain technology, with the lowest level Kanpai Pandas receiving 63 ZRO, INIFINITY level receiving 522 ZRO, and ALIEN HOLDERS level receiving 437 ZRO. This series has a total of 7976 tokens, so approximately a million ZRO tokens are airdropped to holders of this NFT series, not the rumored 30 million.
In fact, as the “son” NFT Pudgy Penguins of LayerZero, each received a varying amount of airdrops, ranging from tens to hundreds, similar to Kanpai Pandas.
LayerZero Labs CEO Bryan Pellegrino (Stinky Penguin) also confirmed that a total of 10 million tokens were airdropped to Stargate users, with Pudgy Penguins and Pandas holders each receiving 1 million tokens. “All projects in the RFP will distribute allocations to their communities according to their own wishes, with detailed information to be announced later.”
However, during the investigation, Odaily Planet Daily discovered some interesting situations:
An address (0x251f8294b1e5df92366ced179fb66b7745749b6b) that has only traded two types of NFTs, with Kanpai Pandas earning them 5335 ZRO.
And the other NFT Mafia Nuts purchased by this address was transferred to address 2 (0x89cff61026f6743b8d25ae9b253582083136b1c4), with an airdrop quota of 15010 tokens, of which Kanpai Pandas contributed 9919 tokens.
As a well-known LayerZero technology-related NFT, holding a large number of this NFT and receiving airdrops may not necessarily be considered insider trading, but for many users who only received a few tokens in the airdrop, the appearance of multiple precise hits on mysterious addresses can indeed lead to suspicion and anxiety.
LayerZero may become the EndGame of lurking
The three kings of the lurking world in 2023, Starknet, ZKsync, and LayerZero, have finally come to an end. Now, ZKsync and LayerZero have caused strong dissatisfaction in the community, with Starknet, which was previously criticized for high gas costs and network congestion, becoming the last “big wool”. Subsequent projects are not on the same scale as before and will only become more internalized. LayerZero may become the EndGame of lurking.
