Dora Factory, a pioneering infrastructure in decentralized governance technology and public goods funding, airdropped DORA tokens to all Cosmos staking addresses on June 5, 2024, with a total of 1.04 million addresses qualifying for the airdrop. This airdrop aims to invite the Cosmos community to focus on and participate in public goods privacy governance. As the 1.04 million qualifying addresses entered the voting whitelist, Dora Factory simultaneously launched the largest-scale Minimum Anti-Collusion Infrastructure (MACI) voting round in history, creating a milestone in privacy voting technology.
1.04 Million Cosmos Stakers Receive Airdrop
On June 5th, all staking wallets in the Cosmos community received DORA tokens. DORA is the native network token of Dora Vota, a decentralized governance application chain developed by the Dora Factory team based on Cosmos SDK.
This airdrop covers all Cosmos stakers, totaling 1.04 million addresses, making it one of the largest airdrops in history in terms of coverage. The number of holding addresses by Dora Factory also exceeded one million. This airdrop aims to mobilize the entire Cosmos community – one of the most active and passionate online communities for decentralized governance, inviting them to participate in an important public goods community governance experiment.
Launching Second Quadratic Funding Vote for ATOM Economy Zone
After receiving the airdropped DORA tokens, Cosmos community members can participate in the ATOM Economy Zone (AEZ) second quadratic funding initiated by DoraHacks and Dora Factory, using ATOM to support public goods teams they appreciate, providing support to early developers, and determining the allocation of the 8,000 ATOM matching pool. The smart contract for this second quadratic vote is deployed on the Dora Vota network, and the community can use airdropped DORA to pay voting fees.
This vote is not just about distributing 8,000 ATOM bonus pools to 16 early projects, but also about mobilizing community power to support public goods and early excellent development teams in an important community governance experiment. The second quadratic funding mechanism ensures that every small donation from community members has the maximum impact, truly realizing the ideal of “many hands make light work.”
Supporting Privacy-Protecting MACI Voting
At the same time, Dora Factory invites community members to participate in MACI (Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure) privacy voting, distributing a $20,000 USDC bonus pool to the nominated teams. Unlike traditional second quadratic voting, voters can express their opinions on public goods without revealing their identities (address information). The more ATOM staked in an address, the more Voice Credit points they will receive, giving them greater voting power. Through MACI voting, Dora Factory hopes to invite the Cosmos community to experience cutting-edge privacy-protecting voting products and, as a starting point, introduce secure, private, and anti-collusion governance technology into more diverse governance scenarios in the future.
Comprehensive Support from Dora Factory
To ensure that every community member can participate in voting without worry, Dora Factory will use the native Gas Station feature of Dora Vota to subsidize all voting fees for community voters. This means that whether participating in second quadratic funding voting or MACI voting, community members do not need to worry about fee-related costs. Fee subsidies are a commitment from the Dora Factory team to the community in the 917 governance proposal and a firm support for the widespread adoption of decentralized governance technology.
Historic Community Governance Activity
This airdrop and voting are not just a technical experiment, but a historic and far-reaching community governance activity. After the second quadratic funding module is natively applied in Cosmos Hub, if the community responds positively, Cosmos will become one of the largest decentralized online communities supporting public goods.
After the ATOM Economy Zone’s second quadratic funding for Cosmos Proposal 917 passed in June 2024, the first round of the two-year second quadratic funding plan for the Cosmos community saw the participation of many excellent projects. The Dora Factory team hopes that the community will focus on the development of public goods, eliminate fee costs for the community through airdrops, and encourage community participation in supporting public goods.
Largest-Scale Privacy Governance Experiment
This Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure (MACI) voting is the first implementation of this technology in the Cosmos community. Dora Factory has whitelisted 1.04 million addresses. This is the first time the MACI privacy voting technology has achieved a whitelist of a million addresses, making it the largest voting experiment in its historical development. The Dora Factory team invites the Cosmos community to actively participate and collectively create a historic moment in the Web3 industry.
About Dora Factory
Dora Factory is a leading protocol stack for decentralized governance, providing governance and long-term incentives for global geek movements, open-source communities, and decentralized organizations through Public Good Staking and Dora Vota. Dora Factory has innovatively built public goods staking infrastructure, changing the way PoS ecosystems support developers in the long term, while Dora Vota provides a comprehensive decentralized governance platform. Users can create programmable governance mechanisms such as MACI and second quadratic voting through the open platform provided by Dora Vota, reducing the cost of decentralized governance, and laying the foundation for the popularization and adoption of decentralized governance.
